The day started off well for this writer, following strong and clear instructions to be on time, he (and Dudley) arrived 13 minutes late...which I've been informed equates to 3.7km of laps to be done before training!

The game underway and Marlow 3s flew out of the blocks with the 2s under pressure from the whistle, their centre forward taking it quickly and trapping Eddie for not being 5. Marlow then camped in the South Berks half, not to be undone Dom and Amor comfortably working the ball out of the back. Marlow rattled by not being able to breakthrough were suddenly under pressure in there half, the ball moving forward at pace. Loose ball drops to Neil in front of goal - slotted it home SB 1-0. A few minutes later similar scenario, with Neil perfectly placed to loop the ball over the keepers arm from a couple of meters out. SB 2-0.

Marlow definitely keen to get back on the front foot kept getting back into the South Berks half midfield and forward perhaps giving them a bit too much freedom to move the ball around. Short corner after short corner and final the South Berks goal was breached from a short corner, nothing special just poor clearance. And so we end the first half SB up 2-1.

The writer thought it would be an excellent idea to recreate the Marlow forwards restart only to kick the ball and make a fool of himself - DoD surely given for that. To potentially reprieve, he then won a short corner - the call of the "Ollie" followed an unsuccessful deflection attempt, the miss trap at the top meant we needed to switch it up. Ball to Chaptain, down to Dudley and over to who, IT'S NEIL for a HAT TRICK!! SB 3-1.

Final 15 with SB still leading 3-2 (no idea when/how their 2nd goal happened), South Berks now under more pressure as Piller steps off following a ball to the knee. Dom stops the ball with...his ball...and concedes a stroke. Roy, who filled with confidence and keen to maintain the lead, guesses right and SAVE! SB still 3-2 up into the closing stages. Questionable decisions from youngsters and senior players trying to dribble instead of keeping it similar meant we were stuck in our half. Marlow awarded a short corner and failed clearance as the drag flick bobbles off Roy puts get Marlow level.

Final conclusions: the first half was excellent, we should have put them to the sword then. 2nd half had much to be desired and a lot of things to work on. But it is another game another point and plenty of attacking danger to come against a tough team.
